I’m a mom. I have four kids, ages 17, 15, 11 and 9. The older two are homegrown, the younger two were born in SE Asia. We adopted Leah at 7 months, Luke at 3 1/2 years. Most of my time, energy and thought life is spent on them.
I’m a wife. I met my Prince Charming when I was just 19 and married him when I was 22. 19 years and counting. (Actually, not really counting. We are pathetically bad at celebrating anniversaries, in part because we now share the day with Leah’s birthday. But also? I’m just really bad at significant event days. I don’t know why. I just am.) He’s a programmer fluent in all the codes. I’m a (wannabe) writer with a teaching degree. Gender-role stereotype much?
I’m a Christian. Not a Bible Thumper. (My father is much better at spreading the Gospel of Running than I am at sharing the Good News.) Not a Pillar of The Community. (hee hee. The very thought.) And very much a Work In Progress. But when it all comes down… this is the core. Who I was before the Husband and the kids. Who I am when I’m alone. Who I’ll be on the day I die. Also, incidentally, Who I hope comes through on this blog.
